DRT Supply Cans

The Disaster Response Supply Can is meant to be used only in case of emergency, a reliable source of supplies for immediate response. It does not take the place of a larger centralized stock of disaster supplies. This list represents the contents of disaster cans at UCSD Libraries. Cans have been placed in all public service departments in campus libraries. The supplies, including the container, are labelled in the hope that this will identify emergency supplies and assist in their return to the disaster can after the emergency. Note: do not store batteries in the flashlight. Be sure to replace them every year and after emergency use.

33 gal. plastic trash can with lid

1 roll 10' x 100' 2 mil plastic sheeting

1 roll filament tape (to tape sheeting)
1 roll duct tape/black (to tape sheeting)

10 large plastic trash bags (to fit can)

2 large sponges

1 Lysol spray can, 19 oz.

1 5 gal. bucket with lid

1 box disposable latex gloves

1 roll "Do not enter" barricade tape

2 rolls paper towels

1 pair scissors

1 dozen pencils, sharpened

2 black permanent marking pens

Yellow lined paper pad

Flashlight

Batteries

10 dust masks

Supplies are available at office, home, or hardware supply stores. Barricade tape is also available from: Lab Safety Supply Inc., 800-356-0783.
