Job numbers are assigned by each bindery unit. The job number consists of four elements:
1. The last digit of the year.
2. Either the letter "C" (meaning UCSD) or "Q" (correction of a
bindery error).
3. The two digit number representing the month.
4. A two digit job number from 00 to 99, obtained from an open list on the network (see
below).
Example:
"7C0302" indicates this is for 1997, UCSD, March, and bindery job number 2 (from the list).
To access the list of job numbers, login to FS3. At your name prompt, type 'bindery.' Then type 'WP' (for WordPerfect 5.1) and list the directory 'R:\DAVID\BINDERY\' (a batch file in the public directory will map you automatically).
You will see a list of files named 'JOBNO03, JOBNO04,' etc. Select the regular file, not the backup file (*.bk). Turn 'Typeover' on ('Insert' off), and using the Tab and Arrow keys, enter your branch's initials (AAL, SIO, etc.) to the right of the next open consecutive job number(s). When finished, Save and Exit. When you exit out of WordPerfect, type 'end'. This will return you to your FS3 name prompt.
Access is available to bindery-related personnel. Only one person at a time can access the file, so don't tie it up unnecessarily. If you make an error, exit without saving and go back in again. Call David Jahn for information or to request access.
