Admission Requirements
- A
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
- A
grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the
final two years of undergraduate study and any post baccalaureate
study
- A
combined score above the median on the verbal, quantitative
and analytical sections of the Graduate Record Examination
- A
statement of purpose discussing the applicants background
and interest in Latin American Studies
- If
applying to a concentration, a separate statement is required
explaining your intellectual and career interests in the field
- Three
letters of recommendation
- Official
TOEFL scores from international applicants whose native language
is not English
- Writing
sample
When
completing the admissions packet,please note the following items:
- The
UCSD internal code for the Latin American Studies MA program
is "LA76;"
- When
taking the GREs please mark "Area Studies- 2201"
for UCSD's Latin American Studies MA program
- If
you are applying to more than one program at UCSD, you may
pay only one application fee but you must submit an individual
application to each unit to which application is being made.
