The FVL in its continuing effort in public service including making media use on the campus  easy, clear and straight-forward has instigated two changes

1. End the always potential confusion of not having one clear way to reserve and pick-up media for classroom use.
2. Centralizing media reserves by moving Film & Video Reserves (formally The Playback Center) to Geisel Library.

1. Starting summer session 1998 and continuing permanently, Audio Visual Services will no longer bring media to the classroom. All media must be picked up at the FVL.  The FVL is centrally located in Geisel Library.  This will not change how audio visual equipment is ordered through Audio Visual Services.  Below are just some of the benefits of  using the FVL directly.

· Clear, one path, procedure reserving and picking-up media
· Previewing  the media before classroom use.
· Media can be queued  prior to class.
· The security of having the media in hand for class.
· Multiple date or time screening will be easier
· Instructors will have more flexibility in last minute title changes by being able to deal with the FVL directly.
· Reservations for classroom use of media can be made at the FVL.

2. Film & Video Reserves <http://orpheus.ucsd.edu/fvl/RESERVES.HTM>
(formally Playback) has become a unit of the FVL and is now  located in Geisel Library.  Not only will media reserves be centrally located,  but Film & Video Reserves have improved facilities including better group viewing for video and for the first time - 16mm projection.

Please visit the FVL website < http://orpheus.ucsd.edu/fvl/FVLPAGE.HTM.> for further information on the above and for any other collection, media resource, or film & video reference need.
