Management
Services Officers (MSOs)
responsible for long-range planning, coordinating, organizing, staffing,
and supervising in the areas of budget, contract and grant administration,
academic and staff personnel administration, purchasing, expenditure control,
space utilization, building and equipment security and maintenance, and
other services that support a teaching, research, clinical, or administrative
function of the campus. Sometimes referred to as Departmental Business
Officers (DBOs).
Recharge
the process by which UCSD departments pay each other for goods and services.
Some campus departments offer goods and services on either full or partial
recharge basis.
Scanning
the process by which a device (a scanner) converts analog text or images
to digital (machine-readable) form. The resulting digital file can be
posted on or linked to an instructional Web site. (Note: due to the open
accessibility of the Web, ensuring copyright compliance for digitized
material, in the context of educational use provisions, is of utmost importance.)
Server
computer or device on a network which manages network resources.
Web
hosting (Web site hosting, hosting)
housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more Web sites.
