Announcements:

• Will now catalog electronic before print; no waiting periods. If print comes in later will make required cataloging changes.
• Progress being made on open positions in Acquisitions.
• Progress on job description for CJK librarian position; no movement yet on Japanese position.
• MSD is moving. By October 20, all staff will be in their temporary locations. On the 6th floor: Margaret Christean, Becky Culbertson, Colin (student), Donal O’Sullivan, Adolfo Tarango. Telecommuting: Renee Chin, Hanley Cocks, Kate Garvey-Clasby.
• EEBO record distribution October 23, 2006. Do not do any SCP monographs cataloging between October 16 and 20 in anticipation of this distribution.
• Wiki for SCP will be unveiled soon.
• OCLC numbers expanding to 9 digits soon, so be on the lookout for them.

Discussion:

1. Document review: Removing Electronic Resource Access Points from Millennium and Melvyl Records. APPROVED.

2. Cataloging free trial titles: Current policy is that we do not catalog free trial access. Stacy Nelson will discuss with Acquisitions people and bibliographers and draft a proposal for cataloging some free trial access titles.

3. Ordering of 856s: Some concern over Roger display in browse, where only one 856 displays to user. The way we currently order 856s in record means the link with the most recent coverage is the only one that shows to the user. However, it appears that discussions are underway with III about displaying more than one 856 in the browse screen, so this may be moot. Therefore discussion ended, and there is no change in our current policy on the order of 856s in the record.
