List of committees and e-mail list to include: CatCom minutes, SCP Advisory Committee minutes, CONSERlist and Serialist. Additional committees and e-mail list to be added at the discretion of the Working Group or SCFG.

3. Identify day-to-day cataloging problems/examples and bring to SCFG, as appropriate, for discussion.

Renee, Margaret, and Nobuko, representing the three main serials cataloging units, will make up the core membership. The term of appointment is for one year. Next August, if not sooner, the effectiveness of the group will be assessed. If continued, the original members may be reappointed or new members from their respective units may serve. Virginia and Arvid are considering membership.

B. Use of 793 to track work processes

The use of 793s to track work processes has become problematic. Adolfo has received comments from public services staff and other about the confusion caused by displays generated in Roger (current egregious example is DOAJ).

A related question arose as to whether the 793 subfield p was going to be indexed.

Adolfo will review new indexing document to see if alternative fields can be used, other ideas from members should be sent to Adolfo. Adolfo will check about the 793 subfield p being indexed.

C. NACO/CONSER update

Paul is going on directed duty to release catalogers from NACO review. Paul and Adolfo will negotiate the order of review to allow at least two serial catalogers to be released near the beginning of the review process. When Paul begins the review process with the second cataloger, Adolfo will contact Valerie Bross of UCLA about doing CONSER authentication training for ALL serial catalogers. The target time for Valerie to do the training is November.
