Fax Machine Instructions

TO SEND A FAX:

1. Load your documents face down in the document feeder located on the top portion of the machine.

2. On the numeric key pad, dial as you would on a normal telephone. (If you have trouble with your long distance access code, please notify the Administrative Assistant immediately.)

3. Press Start to begin the transmission.

REDIALING:

If the line is busy or if there is no answer, the fax machine waits, and then automatically redials the number. The fax machine will attempt to redial 3 times and wait 3 minutes between each redial. You can redial a number manually at any time by pressing the Redial key.

STOPPING A TRANSMISSION:

To stop a transmission in progress, follow the instructions below.

1. Press the Stop key twice. The display shows STOPPED.

2. NEVER pull partially loaded sheets from the feeder. If the documents are stuck partway through the document feeder, you may see a RELOAD DOCUMENT message on the display. Press the Stop key again. The fax machine feeds the document the rest of the way through the document feeder. If you have a paper jam, lift the top cover gently and take out the sheets. (The top cover is the the lid of the fax where the key pads are located.)

RECEIVING FAXES:

Note: The fax machine will not ring when receiving incoming faxes.

The messages stored in the machine's memory will print. When the fax machine runs out of paper, incoming faxes are stored in the machine's memory. The display shows: MSG. IN MEMORY, REPLACE PAPER. Load more paper. The fax machine automatically prints out any messages in memory as soon as the paper is loaded.

MESSAGE CONFIRMATION REPORT:

The fax machine will only print a fax confirmation when a transmission has failed. To print a confirmation report, press the Copy key once (with no documents loaded) to see a report confirming your transmission on the display. To print the report, press the Copy key a second time.

HELPFUL HINT:

You can load and prepare to transmit a document while the fax machine is still sending or receiving another message, AS LONG AS THE DOCUMENT FEEDER IS CLEAR. To do this, load the document, dial the number, and press the Start key. The document will be sent as a priority when the current communication ends.
